If we talk about the rising prices of petrol and diesel in India, then the prices are increasing and people are being forced to leave petrol and diesel and look for other options with which they can save money and in which there are no problems with petrol and diesel. These vehicles are also left and CNG cars are included in this. In this matter, both EV and CNG are successful options which are coming after petrol and diesel and with which they can save money.
But here if we compare which of the EV or CNG vehicles after petrol and diesel will be better and if we think generally then we think that it will also be better but if we compare CNG with EV then there will be some advantages and some disadvantages along with that if we compare EV with CNG then of course EV will be cheaper compared to CNG but if we talk about maintenance then the maintenance that will be required in it will also be more than CNG.
What EV will have is that with the running of the vehicles when the problem of its batteries will come that the company will say that after 8 to 10 years the batteries will have to be changed then like any other battery of any vehicle there will be changes that cost about two to four lakhs, which will be a big expense for any customer. This will also include changing the batteries of the vehicle, where there are CNG vehicles, CNG vehicles will be serviced like a normal vehicle, and which does not cost much to the car, which will continue to happen from time to time.
But if we talk about expenses, then of course this vehicle will also be cheaper for us. Because if we take out 15,000 kilometers, we will drive it for a year and let’s assume that in 15 years we will cover 2.25 lakh kilometers and with this, the cost of this vehicle will be around ₹1.5 per kilometer, which is around ₹3 to ₹3.5 lakh rupees. The vehicle we have will last for 15 years.
At the same time, we will compare CNG with this thing that with the same 15,000 kilometers, the vehicle that will be 15 years old will reach more than ₹9 lakh rupees at the rate of ₹4 per kilometer, which will be much more than this vehicle. So if we compare it according to mileage, this vehicle will be cheaper for us, but the CNG vehicle will be expensive.
| Comparison | EV | CNG |
|---|---|---|
| Running Cost | Around ₹1.5 per km | Around ₹4 per km |
| 15 Years Running (2.25 lakh km) | Around ₹3-3.5 lakh | More than ₹9 lakh |
| Maintenance | Higher after battery issues | Cheaper, normal servicing |
| Battery Replacement | Around ₹2-4 lakh after 8-10 years | No such major expense |
| Resale Value | Lower due to battery concerns | Better resale value |
In terms of maintenance, CNG will be cheaper for us and the main factor that comes next is the resale of the vehicle. If any customer wants to sell his vehicle after driving it for a while, then the CNG vehicle that he has will be an easy sale.
However, this is also because if there is any problem with the batteries in an EV, it is a big expense that any reseller who comes to him will have to deal with. No new customer will want to buy a used vehicle and spend two to four lakh rupees on its batteries, whereas in a CNG vehicle, if any filter or any other thing is changed, then he does not have to bear any additional expenses.
Due to this, the resale value of CNG vehicles will still be better than that of regular EV vehicles because there are many new inventions happening in EVs now. With the advent of new technologies, these vehicles will also be upgraded, so we hope that in the coming years, these too will cover a good market.
But still, if we compare them with today’s prices, then EV will be cheaper in terms of mileage, but CNG will be cheaper in terms of resale and maintenance.
